I have been creating paintings in oil and acrylic since the early 1990s. My current projects are combining my interests in paleontology and art. I am grinding 309 million year old rocks (Siderites and Coal from Illinois’ prehistoric time period) as a base for the artwork. Then combining the powdered rocks with oil and pigment. The process contemplates our place in the large history of life on earth. The painting subject is of Edestus, a 300 million year old species of shark that lived in Illinois.
